INTERNET CRIMES PROSECUTOR NAMED CHILD ADVOCATE OF THE YEAR

One of Utah’s leading child abuse prevention agencies is honoring a prosecutor who has brought justice to hundreds of child sexual abuse predators.   Prevent Child Abuse Utah will recognize Assistant Attorney General Paul Amann as one of the 2013 Child Advocate of the Year winners.

Amann has been prosecuting cases for the Utah Attorney General’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force for the past decade.  He has a nearly 100% conviction rate against predators who use the Internet to lure children for sexual purposes or produce and trade child pornography.

“Paul Amann is known as ‘Buzzsaw” for his ability to cut through all the garbage and focus on the horrific harms being committed against children,” says Attorney General John Swallow.   “Paul deserves this honor.  He has worked tirelessly to protect children for the past ten years.”

Prevent Child Abuse Utah is a non-profit organization committed to breaking the cycle of child abuse through education and training. The agency gives the award each year to a “hero” dedicated to making the difference in the life of a child.

“Paul is a skilled prosecutor and a fierce advocate for children.  This award reflects a career dedicated to protecting our most vulnerable treasure,” adds Children’s Justice Division Chief Craig Barlow.

Amann and other winners will be recognized at 8:30 a.m., April 30 at the Eccles Conference Center. 2415 Washington Boulevard, Ogden, Utah.
