Child advocate Elaine Runyan-Simmons and the Davis Chamber of Commerce Women in Business will present the largest donation ever received for Utah’s AMBER Alert Program to Utah Attorney General John Swallow on March 14. The group raised most of the money through a dinner, dance and silent auction held last November.
Before this donation, the Women In Business have raised more than $35,000 during the past four years. The funds make up nearly the entire budget for the Utah AMBER Alert Program because it does not rely on tax dollars.
Runyan-Simmons has been actively involved in efforts to find missing and abducted children after her three-year-old daughter was kidnapped and murdered in 1982.
